2022 Open House presentation:
Overview:
The project involves the completion of urban bicycle and ADA compliant pedestrian facilities along Connecticut Avenue SE between Macleay Road/Pennsylvania Avenue and Rickey Street/Macleay Road. There are bike lanes on both sides of the road in the south half of this segment. These will be extended to the north on both sides to complete this key connecting road. Sidewalks and ADA improvements will be constructed along the west side of the corridor and ADA compliant curb ramps will be added on the east side as required to improve accessibility and provide adequate facilities for navigating this area. The proposed project will also include improvements to the concrete refuge island in the north Macleay/Connecticut intersection.
Schedule:
Construction is expected to be in the summer of 2025.
Funding:
Federal Aid Surface Transportation funds along with County matching funds are being utilized to construct the upgrades. The total project cost is estimated to be $1,124,000 which includes engineering, right of way and construction.
