The Marion County Clerk’s Office accepts applications for U.S. Passports. American citizens wishing to travel to most foreign countries must obtain a U.S. Passport regardless of age. You must appear in person before an authorized agent to apply for passport , regardless of age, if you meet any of the following criteria:

You have never been issued a passport.
You were under the age of 16 years when your last passport was issued.
Parents/guardians of minors under the age of 16 must sign the passport application.
All children 15 years of age and under must submit their birth certificate even if they have been issued a previous passport.
If it has been less that 15 years from the issue date of your last passport, you may renew your passport by mail. All forms for this purpose are available from the Clerk’s Office or at

You will need proof of U.S. citizenship such as a certified copy of your birth certificate issued by the vital records department of the state where you were born. If you are a naturalized citizen, you must provide your Certificate of Naturalization. Birth certificates must have a state registrar’s seal that is raised or colored. It must show the date the record was officially recorded. Hospital birth certificates, notifications of birth, most birth abstracts, and photocopies or notarized copies of birth records are not acceptable.
At the time of application you will need two identical passport pictures taken within the last six months. Such pictures must conform to the specifications of the U.S. State Department. There are photographers and/or companies in the area that take such pictures. You will also need to show current photo identification, such as a drivers license.
