Young Adult Rental Assistance (YRAP) & Rental Assistance (RAP)
YRAP and RAP assists individuals aged 17 and older who are diagnosed with a serious mental illness and who are:
- Homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
- Transitioning from the Oregon State Hospital
- Transitioning from a licensed residential setting
- At risk of reentering a licensed residential or hospital setting if unable to access supported housing
The Housing Specialist and Peer Support Specialist offer the following:
- Person-Centered housing navigation services which include, but is not limited to
- Locating available rental units
- Helping with rental applications
- Providing a monthly rent subsidy
- Covering initial move-in costs
- Case Management and care coordination
- Emotional support provided by a specialist with lived experience
Program expectations:
- Applicants cannot be receiving any type of tenant-based rental subsidies (i.e., HUD)
- Monthly rent of any unit must not exceed the local HUD Fair Market Rent
- Participants must pay a percentage of their monthly income (no more than 30%) toward housing expenses (i.e., rent, utilities).
