Mental health refers to a person's psychological, emotional and social well-being and can impact how you think, feel, deal with stress, make choices, and relate to others. Mental health conditions include:
- Anxiety disorders

- Depression
- Eating disorders
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

- 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year
- 50% of all lifetime mental illness begins by age 14, and 75% by age 24
- Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-14

Glimmers
Glimmers are those warm, fuzzy feelings you experience when you are cozy and safe. They are the opposite of triggers and are meant to help bring you back to a place of happiness. They may even help change your mood! Glimmers can help you feel present. Examples of glimmers could be:
- Walking on the beach
- Petting an animal
- The smell of freshly baked bread
- The feel of grass under your feet
- Wrapping up in a warm, fuzzy blanket
- Your favorite song
When you feel stressed or upset, thinking of your glimmer may help your body and mind feel more connected. Try drawing or writing down your glimmers and keep them close. If you want, you can share your glimmers with friends. You may find someone else's glimmer is similar to yours, or you could discover a new glimmer of your own!
