WIC is partnering with Capitol Dental / SmileKeepers to provide dental screenings for all WIC participants! Best of all, attending a dental screening counts toward your WIC nutrition education requirement—and it’s completely free through our program.
Why Dental Screenings Matter
As part of our commitment to whole-body health, WIC offers dental screenings to help you and your children maintain healthy teeth and gums. During your appointment, a dental hygienist will:
- Assess your mouth and teeth (for you and your child)
- Discuss general dental care routines
- Provide education on brushing, flossing, and gum care
- Talk about dental-friendly foods and beverages
- Set personalized dental goals
- Apply fluoride varnish or silver diamine fluoride, if desired
- Offer tips for home care
- Answer your questions and concerns
- Provide basic dental supplies such as toothbrushes, floss, and toothpaste
- Provide referrals and schedule follow-up appointments as needed
Appointment Details
- Location: Salem WIC Office, 3160 Center St.
- Duration: Approximately 10–15 minutes per person
- Days: Wednesdays and Thursdays
- Time: 9:00 AM – 2:45 PM

If you do not have food benefits for this month, please connect with us. We may be able to issue them while your work on completing your nutrition education.
