New Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteerism plays an important role here at Marion County, helping to build our relationship with citizens while building our capacity to deliver important services and supports. We are fortunate as we benefit from a community committed to civic engagement, and many volunteers make significant contribution in time, energy and expertise.

Marion County offers a wide variety of program and event volunteer opportunities, as well as opportunities to serve on an advisory boards, committee or task force. Opportunities vary by department, and by the time of the year, and evolve.Summary of Marion County Volunteer Opportunities.pdf

Spotlight on a current volunteer opportunities:

Comp Board 2025 FB Reduced.pngAs a member of the Compensation Board you'll meet 2-3 times a year to review and recommend salaries for the county's nine elected officials, including the Assessor, County Clerk, District Attorney, Sheriff, Treasurer, Justice of the Peace and three Commissioners. Members of the Compensation Board serve a one-year term with potential for re-appointment to additional terms. Those applying for the board must be knowledgeable in the areas of personnel and compensation management and must reside or work in Marion County. Individuals employed by the county are not eligible to serve on the Compensation Board. Once selected, board members will attend an orientation session on the responsibilities of this board. To be considered for a position on the 2025 Compensation Board complete the Advisory Board Application and submit no later than 11:59pm, Friday, January 31, 2025.

  • Visit Advisory Boards to find more information about open positions on an advisory board, commission, or committee. Eligibility requirements vary by board, but generally applicants must work or live in Marion County to be considered for appointment to any advisory board.
