Water pollution comes in many forms, and it can have significant impact on human health, wildlife, and the environment. It is up to those who live, work, and play in Marion County to do their part by practicing good behaviors that reduce or eliminate water pollution. Find out ways that you can identify and report pollution and illicit discharges that impact our water.
An
illicit discharge is
any discharge to the Marion County municipal storm sewer system (storm drains, pipes, and ditches) that is not entirely comprised of stormwater. For more information about what an "illicit discharge" is, click here to read Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination: A Guidance Manual from the EPA.
