Where Does Your Water Go?
Find Your Watershed
A watershed is the area of land where all of the rain and runoff goes to a common outlet. Watersheds can be as small as a footprint or large enough to encompass all the land that drains water into rivers or the ocean. It's important to understand that what happens upstream (even miles from a major water body) impacts the entire watershed.
Marion County is situated in the overall Willamette River Watershed, with all the water eventually reaching the Willamette River. Within that, there are three major watersheds that each have their own watershed councils. Find out which watershed you live in.
