Multifamily Recycling

Marion County supports and encourages recycling and waste reduction at multifamily communities!

Nearly 25% of the county's population lives in multifamily communities. To meet the unique needs for multifamily managers and residents, Marion County Public Works has developed effective recycling resources and strategies specific for multifamily communities.
Marion County offers these resources for FREE to any community manager interested in participating in the Multifamily Recycling Program.

For many locations in Marion County, recycling collection service can be provided at no additional cost to the current garbage service by the garbage hauler. The property manager must request recycling service. Reductions in garbage container volume and frequency of garbage pick up can help reduce garbage costs.

What is considered a Multifamily Community?
We can offer assistance with your on-site recycling program:
- Conduct an on-site waste assessment to provide recommendations for waste reduction opportunities
- Educate property owners and site managers about recycling and disposal options in Marion County
- Provide a variety of bilingual (English and Spanish) materials, including signs, collection container decals, recycling reminders, and informational brochures
- Develop incentives for managers and property owners who participate in the program
- Participate in community events and presentations
Participation in the program is voluntary. All materials and assistance is available for FREE to support on-site recycling programs at multifamily communities.
The goal of the Multifamily Recycling Program is to make
recycling easy for both managers and community residents.
