Step 1:
Check out our
current openings and complete application.
Step 2:
Complete one of the following academic proficiencies:
- Possess a four-year, post-secondary degree issued by an accredited, degree-granting college or university recognized by the Oregon Office of Degree Authorization under the provisions of ORS 348-604; OR
- Successfully completed training resulting in the award of Basic Police certification from Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST); OR
- Recent (within the past twelve months) FrontLine test (Enforcement/Institutions/Community Corrections) or REACT (Institutions/Community Corrections) with National Testing Network (NTN).
Step 3:
Complete one of the following physical proficiencies:
- Successfully completed training resulting in the award of Basic Police Officer certification from Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST); OR
- Recent (within the past twelve months)
Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT) completed time from an Oregon Law Enforcement organization or authorized testing agency (NTN); OR
- Recent (within the past twelve months) Physical Abilities Test (PAT) completed time from a Military or Law Enforcement related source.
Step 4:
Schedule Ride-Along / Job Shadow (Optional)

Step 5:
Interview
- Applicants who meet minimum qualifications for deputy positions are invited to interview. Ahead of the interview, applicants are sent an online Personal History Questionnaire to complete. On the day of your interview, applicants should be prepared to spend up to 2-3 hours to participate in a panel interview and to complete pre-suitability testing.
Step 6:
Background
- Applicants selected to move forward after interview will be invited to complete a background packet online. Our comprehensive background process is designed to meet requirements under
Oregon Administrative Rules.
Step 7:
Psychological Exam
- Applicants will be scheduled for a pre-employment psychological exam.

Medical Exam
