Dog Hearings
Dog hearings are scheduled through Marion County Dog Control (MCDC). Please contact MCDC at (503) 588-5366 for questions regarding hearings. Hearings are informal but follow set procedures. MCDC presents its case first. The dog owner/keeper may question MCDC witnesses. The dog owner/keeper may present testimony or witnesses. MCDC has the burden of proof in a civil infraction case, and will have an opportunity for follow up. The hearings officer may also question witnesses. A decision will not be made at the hearing. Expect follow up by mail.
Several cases may be set for the same time and date as your hearing. We will try to get to your case as soon as possible, but we must also ensure all parties have an opportunity to be heard. Please be patient. Keeping testimony relevant to the case at hand will help make the process run more smoothly.
