Marion County Dog Services (MCDS) operates Marion County's dog shelter, which is located in Salem. Our Mission is to serve and protect dogs and communities throughout Marion County. The team at MCDS is tasked with enforcing Marion County dog licensing and control ordinances; promoting humane treatment of dogs; providing shelter and care for stray dogs until they are reunited with their families or adopted; educating residents on quality dog care; and providing excellent customer service.

Please note: We check everyone's photo ID. Please come prepared with photo ID if you are visiting the shelter for adoption, redeeming a dog, stray dog drop-off, or to inquire about volunteering.
Interested in adopting? In order to allow our staff time to feed, clean and care for the shelter dogs, we conduct adoptions by appointment. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out the
Adoption Questionnaire and email it to
adopt@co.marion.or.us. For best results, download the fillable Adoption Questionnaire before completing it.
