Marion County Housing Initiative
The Marion County Housing Initiative (MCHI) is a collaborative effort between the county and community stakeholders to evaluate a variety of housing needs in order to work toward housing solutions for our community.
The housing initiative addresses barriers to private development of housing in Marion County including: land use; infrastructure; financing; and taxes.
MCHI's purpose is to:
Convene stakeholders and strengthen local partnerships among public, private and nonprofit organizations to effectively create more housing units;
Provide perspective and insight into the planning and development of housing projects;
Ensure that housing projects and programs are considered from various perspectives and needs, engaging key stakeholders and partners as needed to accomplish goals set by the Board of Commissioners.
Specialized task forces may be established as needed to address specific housing related issues.
