Marion County Parks, in partnership with Oregon Parks Forever, Trailkeepers of Oregon, and SOLVE Oregon, is excited to announce a two-day volunteer event to aid in reopening efforts for wildfire-affected parks.
Event Details
Date: May 4th, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Location: North Fork County Park
Volunteer Shifts: Volunteers can sign up for the morning shift, 8:30-11:30am or the afternoon shift from 12:30-3:30pm, or they can attend all day. Lunch will be provided.
Parking: Parking is limited, so there will be a shuttle service available from Oregon Department of Forestry – North Cascade District Office located at 22965 N Fork Rd SE, Lyons, OR to North Fork Park.
Date: May 5th, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Location: Minto County Park
Parking: Parking is limited, so there will be a shuttle service available from Gates Park and Ride, located on Central St north of Horeb St, Gates OR to Minto Park.
Volunteer Activities
The Beachie Creek Fire left a significant impact on the Santiam Canyon parks, damaging various amenities and the surrounding natural environment. Volunteers will help in restoration efforts through:
Trail construction
Picnic table assembly
Sign and amenity installation
Invasive species and debris removal
Volunteers do not to bring any of their own supplies, they will be provided. This event will take place rain or shine, so we suggest everyone dresses for the occasion. Volunteers will have the opportunity to select their preferred activity when they sign up for the event and signups are required to participate.
