Marion County Parks Commission
There are seven members on the Marion County Parks Commission, who meet quarterly to advise the Marion County Board of Commissioners on land acquisition, development, operation and maintenance of the system of 18 developed and 3 undeveloped county parks. There are currently three vacancies on the commission.
The commission also helps promote the discovery of sites and facilities suitable for recreational, scenic and historical purposes. The commission enlists the cooperation of state and federal authorities and local interest groups for development and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities.
Members are appointed by the Board of Commissioners to serve four-year terms and must be at least 18 years old.
