20220421 Open House letter
Marion County has received federal funding to replace one of the old Mill Creek bridges (Br #1505) on Mill Creek Road between the cities of Turner and Aumsville. The current bridge was built in 1930 and is a reinforced concrete structure. The bridge is narrow, the approach rails are substandard, its substructure is in poor condition, and there are several locations of exposed rebar and concrete spalling. It will be replaced with a new concrete bridge meeting current standards. A traffic detour will be in place during construction to allow the new bridge to be constructed on the existing alignment. Another improvement is the addition of guardrail which the current bridge lacks. 70th Avenue may need to be realigned to accommodate the required bridge approach rail at the southwest corner of the new bridge.
Construction is expected to begin in the Summer of 2025 and be completed in the Fall.
Federal Aid Surface Transportation funds along with County matching funds are being utilized to construct the upgrades. The total project cost is estimated to be $2,833,600 which includes engineering, right of way and construction.
