Relief Staff Positions
The Juvenile Department maintains a pool of relief workers and temp support staff. The support staff provide back up for vacations, and other leave of regular support staff. The Juvenile Relief Workers are assigned to detention, GAP, and Alternative Programs and provide back up for regular staff vacations, holidays and other leave, and when additional staff are needed for a temporary period. These positions work directly with juveniles who are in secure detention, the shelter care program, and supervising youth work crews and experiences.
The detention facility operates with shifts covering 24 hours 365 days. GAP operates from 2pm to 8am on weekdays and 24 hours a day on weekends. The work programs operate primarily during regular work hours, and occasionally on weekends or evenings. A request for relief staff to work might vary from one to several days in a row. Relief staff do not always have to accept an opportunity to work a shift and have the option to decline when other personal responsibilities conflict. This also makes it necessary to have a large pool of relief staff to call upon. If you are interested in working on an as-needed basis please go to the
