The Marion County Law Library (MCLL) best serves the community when every available item in the collection is in its proper place. Volunteers in this capacity will shelve items for easy retrieval by library patrons and staff; maintain the order of library materials, shift books around on shelves, file inserts and repackage information.
Use the
Volunteer/Intern Application. For more information or questions about the program, contact Volunteer Services at 503-588-7990 or by email at volunteer@co.marion.or.us.
Volunteers play a critical role at the Marion County Dog Shelter, working side by side with shelter staff to care for the dogs at the shelter. There are a variety of volunteer roles including dog walkers, outreach and event volunteers, shelter assistants, clinic assistants and foster providers. Most volunteer positions at the shelter require the volunteer to be over 18 years of age, so there are limited opportunities for volunteers under 18. The shelter has a variety of projects that can be completed off-site, so that may be a good option for younger volunteers. Visit the
Dog Shelter Volunteer website for more information or fill out a
Dog Shelter Volunteer Application. Anyone interested in foster a dog should submit a
Foster Provider Application.

Waste Reduction - Marion Resourcers (Formally named Master Recyclers)
The program looks to empower the next generation of sustainability leaders in Marion County towards green outreach and serving as a resource in their community. We’re calling all activists, advocates, and allies to join the movement to reduce waste and protect our environment. Today’s environment is challenging us all to rethink how we manage the materials in our everyday life. We love recyclers—but we truly celebrate those who repurpose, revamp, recondition, and restore. From cardboard to cans, e-waste to solid waste—we won’t stop until every resident understands how important their role is in our mission to transform the environment. As a Marion County Resourcers, you will help lead our region towards a healthier and more sustainable future by changing the way we create and dispose of waste.
Marion Resourcers must be at least 18 years old and begin their service by taking the free Marion Resourcers training. Marion Resourcers are
