Intern Opportunities
Marion County departments engage students from local colleges and universities in projects that provide technical and professional experience. Internships are limited, competitive, and may fill up fast! Apply early for placement. All internships are non-paid. Below are just a few of the internship opportunities available:
District Attorney's Office - Victim Assistance Program
Volunteers and student interns contribute significantly to the program, as either a day-shift Victim Advocate or as a Sexual Assault Response Advocate. Interns and volunteers complete the Victim Advocate training academy, which is held multiple times each year. Suggested areas of study for interns include, but are not limited to, Criminal Justice, Law, Psychology, or Sociology. Candidates will have a criminal background check and driving history check. Health and Human Services: Behavioral Health Division
Multiple positions available. Exact assignment is dependent upon experience and opportunities available at the time of placement. Please note that preference may be given to students enrolled in a graduate program. Adult Outpatient Services will prioritize Social Work internships to students who are in the last year of their graduate program. Counseling internship placements will vary by program/school. Use the Volunteer/Intern Application to begin the process. Please read the instructions in the application carefully, and provide all information requested. Juvenile Department
Research, Data and Evaluation Intern
Student will utilize the Juvenile Justice and Business Intelligence systems to generate a wide variety of department and community level reports to inform, direct and evaluate program services through data-driven decision making. The ideal candidate will be at least a Junior, with some college coursework in the areas of research, statistics, and/or juvenile justice/human services, and familiarity with relational databases.
