Summary of Services
Our Alcohol & Drug Prevention Program uses the science of prevention to support our
communities in preventing abuse of alcohol and other substances. We collaborate with
community based organizations (CBOs), health care systems, neighborhood groups, schools,
businesses, and other organizations and individuals with an interest in preventing the incidence
of drug and alcohol abuse in the community.
Some of our program activities include:
- Technical assistance, policy development, and staff training for schools
- Support of evidence-based prevention curriculum and related staff training in schools
- Technical assistance for community groups and schools in apply prevention research, program and project development, project evaluation, and grant writing
- Dissemination of educational resources and materials for substance abuse prevention and treatment services
- Facilitation of the Marion County Substance Use Coalition and other collaborative efforts to address substance abuse
- Participation in the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) development and implementation of substance use-related strategies
- Seeking funding opportunities to enhance substance abuse prevention efforts
- Coordination with other Marion County prevention services to address substance abuse
- Programs and training opportunities
