Passports -
Due to COVID-19 closures passport services are temporarily suspended.
The Marion County Clerk’s Office accepts applications for U.S. Passports. American citizens wishing to travel to most foreign countries must obtain a U.S. Passport regardless of age. You must appear in person before an authorized agent to apply for passport , regardless of age, if you meet any of the following criteria:
A passport has not been issued in your name within the past 15 years.
You have never been issued a passport.
You were under the age of 16 years when your last passport was issued.
Parents/guardians of minors under the age of 16 must sign the passport application.
All children 15 years of age and under must submit their birth certificate even if they have been issued a previous passport.
If it has been less that 15 years from the issue date of your last passport, you may renew your passport by mail. All forms for this purpose are available from the Clerk’s Office or at
www.travel.state.gov.
You will need proof of U.S. citizenship such as a certified copy of your birth certificate issued by the vital records department of the state where you were born. If you are a naturalized citizen, you must provide your Certificate of Naturalization. Birth certificates must have a state registrar’s seal that is raised or colored. It must show the date the record was officially recorded. Hospital birth certificates, notifications of birth, most birth abstracts, and photocopies or notarized copies of birth records are not acceptable.
At the time of application you will need two identical passport pictures taken within the last six months. Such pictures must conform to the specifications of the U.S. State Department. There are photographers and/or companies in the area that take such pictures. You will also need to show current photo identification, such as a drivers license. Parents must sign the application for all children 15 years of age and under. All people 16 years and over must sign the application in the presence of the passport agent.
Customers will now have the option to apply for a Passport Book, a Passport Card, or both on the new
DS-11,
DS-82 and
DS-5504 forms. The passport card may only be used for land and sea travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. The Passport Card will provide a less expensive and more convenient alternative for those who travel to these destinations.
Passport fees are as follows:

Adult (16 years and over) $130.00*
Child (15 years and younger) $100.00*
Passport Card (age 16 and over, DS-11) $30.00**
Passport Card (age 15 and under, DS-11) $15.00**

*Plus a separate payment for a County fee of $35.00 per passport book. Debit and credit card payments are subject to a service fee.

DS-82 mail-in form.

It currently takes approximately six weeks to obtain a passport. There is an expedite service available for an additional fee of $60.00 per passport.
