    Marion County learns of first COVID-19 related death

    Salem, OR - We are saddened to report the death of a community member from COVID-19. Commissioners Willis, Brentano, and Cameron express their deepest sympathies with the individual’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

    Marion County Health and Human Services continues to take necessary, carefully considered steps to slow down the spread of the disease and to protect those at greatest risk. Our top priority continues to be protecting the health of our community. It is critical that individuals and organizations take action to slow the spread of the virus and follow the guidance and recommendations from health care professionals.

    Commissioner Colm Willis, chair, said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and we ask everyone to continue to take necessary precautions to minimize your exposure to COVID-19.”

    We empathize with those in our community who have been impacted the COVID-19 outbreak.

    For the family’s privacy, Marion County will not be releasing any patient information.
