    WIC Farm Direct Nutrition Program

Posted by: Health and Human Services

The Marion County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is pleased to announce the start of the 2016 Farmers Market coupon season. These coupons are provided by the Farm Direct Nutrition Program (FDNP) to promote healthy eating and to encourage the purchase of locally grown produce which helps support local farmers.

The FDNP allows eligible WIC participants to receive $20 in coupons to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs directly from approved farmers markets and roadside stands. Each WIC family is eligible to receive up to a maximum of $60 in farmers market coupons per year in addition to regular WIC vouchers.

Marion County WIC will be distributing the farmers market coupons at the Salem Saturday Market on July 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.  Coupons will also be distributed at the Woodburn, Silverton and Stayton WIC offices in the coming weeks.  WIC ID cards are required when picking up coupons at these locations.

Contact the Marion County WIC office at (503) 588-5057 or visit www.co.marion.or.us/HLT/PH/WIC/ for additional information.  There are a limited number of coupons available, so be sure to get yours early.
