    Public Safety Telephone Town Hall

Posted by: Board of Commissioners Office

The Marion County Public Safety Coordinating Council will hold a telephone town hall on Thursday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. Featured guests include Sheriff Jason Myers, Salem Police Chief Jerry Moore, District Attorney Walt Beglau, Juvenile Director Faye Fagel, and Commissioner Janet Carlson, council chair.

Over the past few months the council has hosted a series of town hall discussions across Marion County. In order to reach a broader audience, the Public Safety Coordinating Council is hosting this telephone hall to make talking with local public safety officials more convenient for residents.

Commissioner Janet Carlson said, "We know families have a lot of daily demands. This is a great opportunity to speak with local leaders from the comfort of your own home." She continued, "The council is interested in knowing what is important to our residents and look forward to learning more using this new technology."

Residents who would like to participate can pre-register by emailing their name and phone number to commissioners@co.marion.or.us. Participants will receive an incoming phone call to connect to the telephone town hall at 6:30 p.m. on April 28.

The Public Safety Coordinating Council meets monthly and serves in an advisory capacity to the Marion County Board of Commissioners. Council representatives work collaboratively on public safety issues and encourage effective use of community resources to prevent and reduce crime, and increase safety within our communities. The council is made up of representatives from local law enforcement, cities, courts, victim advocates, juvenile services, non-profits, business and citizen representatives. Meetings are open to the public. For more information, visit http://www.co.marion.or.us/BOC/PSCC
