    Bear Creek Park Campground and Other Area Parks Open For The Season

    ​Several Marion County parks, including Bear Creek Park Campground, will open for the season on Sunday, May 1, 2016.

    Bear Creek Park is a 15.10 acre park located along the Little North Fork of the Santiam River between BLM's Canyon Creek and Elkhorn Valley parks. The campground has fifteen first-come, first-served sites and the camping fee is $14 per night with a 14 night maximum stay. Each of the camping sites has picnic tables and fire pits, and each site is allowed one vehicle at no charge, with a $5 fee for a second vehicle. Camping site check in is 4:00 p.m. and check out is 1:00 p.m. on the day of departure, and the day use portion of the park is open from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.

    Marion County has other seasonal parks opening on May 1.

    Other seasonal Marion County parks that open to the public on May 1 include:

    • Aumsville Ponds on Bates Road SE near Aumsville;
    • Bonesteele Park on Aumsville Hwy SE;
    • Spong's Landing on the Willamette River north of Keizer;
    • Scotts Mills Park; and,
    • Minto, Niagara, North Fork, and Salmon Falls parks, which are all in the North Santiam River Basin.

    These parks are also open daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset.

    The Marion County parks that are open year-round or already open for the season are:

    • Salem area - Auburn, Denny, Eola Bend, Joryville, Labish Village, and Parkdale;
    • Near Silverton - Rogers Wayside;
    • Along the North Santiam River – Packsaddle; and,
    • St. Louis Fish Ponds, west of Gervais, opened for the season on March 1.

    Marion County has a first-come, first-served policy for all county parks and no reservations are accepted.
