    Marion County Invites Students To Participate In 2016 Earth Day Poster Contest

    ​Marion County Public Works and the Oregon Garden would like to invite students to participate in this year's contest to help promote Earth Day 2016. The theme for this year's contest is "Clean water, clear skies."  

    The contest is open to students in all K-12 programs. A First Place Prize will be awarded to one student in each of these categories: grades K-3; grades 4-7; and grades 8-12. A Grand Prize winner, whose work will be featured on the official 2016 Earth Day poster, will be chosen from the three First Prize winners.

    The winner from each category will receive a $50 Gift Card and a framed certificate from the Marion County Board of Commissioners. The Grand Prize winner will receive an additional $50 plus their artwork will be used for the Earth Day poster and other advertising!

    The teacher of the student who wins the Grand Prize will receive a $100 gift card for his/her classroom use. For more information about the contest, go to www.co.marion.or.us/PW/ES/Pages/springevents.aspx. The deadline is Sunday, January 31, 2016.

    The 17th annual Earth Day Celebration at The Oregon Garden on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10 am to 4 pm is a FREE event made possible by generous sponsorships from Marion County Environmental Services, The Oregon Garden, Izaac Walton League, and others.  This year's Earth Day Celebration will feature educational activities for children and adults with ideas on how to walk more gently on planet earth by making simple changes in our everyday lives.
