Storm Drain Marker Program
The goal of the Storm Drain Marker Program is to promote understanding that anything poured down the storm drain or collected from rainfall ends up in our local rivers and streams. This storm drain marker, together with the informational door hangers are visual reminders that only rain belongs down the storm drain.
Business Storm Drain Stencil Kits
Businesses around Marion County are doing their part to protect our rivers and streams by applying storm drain stencils to drains in their parking lots. Marion County Environmental Services provides businesses and volunteers free kits which include all the supplies needed to apply these educational stencils. Stencils are meant to inform the public that drains lead to our rivers and streams and that only water should go down the drain. Check out a storm drain stencil kit at the Public Works front desk or contact Environmental Services to have one dropped off at your office. Want to do more? Become

On the day of the event volunteers will mark each storm drain with the provided markers and marking equipment. Each storm drain will need any debris removed from the top of the catch basin itself and from the spot where the marker will be glued. Volunteers can also place informational door hangers on each door of nearby residents.
